DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT, PLANNING AND HOUSING (DEAL)
DEAL replaces the DIREN (Regional Department of the Environment), the DDE, The Police de l’Eau (Department of Agriculture and Forestry) and DRIRE (regional directorate for industry, research and environment), except industrial development and metrology.
It was created on 1 January 2011.
Under the authority of the Prefect, DEAL aims to implement State-driven local policies under the auspices of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy (MEDDE) and the Ministry of Housing and Rural Affairs (MLETR).
This state department is in charge of PDC (Plans De Conservation) and National Action Plans (PNA), an initiative of the Grenelle environmental forum set up to protect plant and animal species in critical danger of extinction.
DEAL funded the Barau’s Petrel PNA and the Bourbon Black Petrel PNA.
